Manage commissaries a business, not a benefit

I know this has been rehashed a few times. Don't have the time right now to search for the thread, so here is an update.

Business or Benefit

Not looking for arguments, jut posting some information.

Disgusting! When I was in the Navy 30 years ago I could barely make ends meet and feed my family. The commissary was essential for us. This is just another way the government is NOT taking care of the troops.

These benefits are part of the cost of doing business if we want a strong military and if we can't afford it we need to throttle back our "adventures", not screw the troops!

Sorry, I could not keep quiet on this one!

Shoppers still need to shop around and look for the best bargain but the commissary has always been a reliable source of food in the military world. The military benefits have slowly been diminishing over the years.

I would much rather the government cut spending in other "areas". Sorry if I crossed the line. We were Army brat's. Still like to keep an eye out for the guys.

My main issue with this is that some of us don't have anywhere else to go for groceries. Out here at Edwards AFB we're about 16 miles from the nearest Albertsons which is grossly overpriced. I'd have to drive over 25 miles to get to the nearest inexpensive store and by then I'm losing the discount due to time and gas cost.

CorpJ,

Here in Ridgecrest we have the Commissary and Albertsons. Do all my shopping on base. Once in a while come to Edwards love the extra size commissary there.
