Campground is drying out after torrential rainstorms this week. American Water/Post Public Works have been slowly working on the water issue (colored water) since March--it's clearing up. We were the first concerned about the issue and brought it up to leadership at MWR and base leadership was informed in their weekly "stand-up." I would say half the park is filled (50 hardstands) but the snowbirds from the South are frequently working themselves up the coast. Base access is absolutely crazy with all the construction on/off post. Touch base with MWR before "showing up." All hardstands half with concrete picnic pads other half with weird, black, when it rains mud mess stuff. $33.00-$38.00 depending on "back-in" or "pull-through."

Now known as Joint Base Langley-Eustis
This campground is a "hot mess" so to speak. Still cold at the time, the stands are all soft, pooling of water will most likely occur and low/long RV's should be careful crossing the boat ramp. Now with the recent rains, I'm not quite sure what the status of this FamCamp may be as it sits close to the water. Really inexpensive and not far from Langley AFB, Williamsburg, Beaches, it's a perfect inexpensive option. Access to the area--be careful crossing the reservoir with wide body and lengthy RV's, sharp turns. Keep in mind, there are only 9 stands and $25.00 Per Night.

Shaw AFB, South Carolina
Shaw's Campground tucked inside pines on the perimeter road, if possible, utilize the Commercial Gate (during duty hours/weekdays)--it will be a shorter run than utilizing the gate near Hwy 441. Now, since the Third US Army took up shop on the Ammo Dump/Hush House side of the base, this campground has been pretty much unaccessible. We were able to squeeze in as a Three-Year Homesteader/Full-Timer Soldier pulled chocks back to Georgia. So... it's filled with homesteaders with occassional spots opening up. As usual with most USAF facilites, pretty nice. As with most, call ahead and reserve. There are 20 stands and the price is $20.00 Per Night.

Joint Base Charleston/Weapons Station, Current as of Jan '14
We have yet to "static" at CAFB, but have stayed on the Weapons Station. For those that don't know, CAFB has a FamCamp closer to end of RWY35 or the Airplane Petting Zoo--probably better to come in off of I26 to Aviation Avenue. Weapons Station has their FamCamp on the housing side of the base close to Bushy Park, be careful driving prizes are generously handed out on the Weapons Station side of the house. 58 stands at $20 per night on the Weapons Station and CAFB rates are also $20.00 per night and $500 per month in the "special Moultrie area." FYI, CAFB does not accept reservations. The difference between the two is really where you want to be and do. You're closer to fishing/landings at the Weapons Station and CAFB is about 20-25 minutes from allpoints South of CAFB via I26/526. They're both really nice close to everything you need.
