If having an issue that is not in the rules....all too often it is a "good ole boys issue"....

My USCG experience was one of most people being a stickler for rules so not to get a black eye...call the Base CO if you think something is "wrong".

Good luck as someday I hope to get there (without bunping you... )

No calling the base CO......get the wrong one and it gets shut down. Then I am black listed! Kidding of course..I think it's more of a case of some employees not knowing or caring about the rules. We called 92 days out and the person said 90 days. We called at 90 days and the next person said we are booked through August....which should have been impossible, but this person stated that they were flexible.
I will try again next year......

Good luck as someday I hope to get there
(without bunping you... )
Hope to meet.....you can teach me how to jump puddles!

What’s the deal with NAS Key West? I called for a reservation and was told retired category had to call in 3 months prior. If it’s already booked up through Feb, would that mean no retired need attempt to get reservations?

Just pulled this from their web page

"Reservations can be made for a total of 90 days for months that are currently open. If reservations are desired for months further out than 6 months or 12 months you can call to extend your reservation on the 1st of the following month.

Retirees, eligible veterans, and DoD civilians can make reservations 6 months in advance. For example, at 12 AM on January 1, these patrons can call 877-NAVY-BED or go online to www.DoDLodging.net and make reservations for anytime through July 31. On February 1 you can call and extend your reservation for anytime through August 31. On March 1 you can call and extend your reservation for anytime through September 30, but not to exceed a total of 90 days.

Active Duty members and Reservists can make reservations 12 months in advance by calling 877-NAVY-BED or go online to www.DoDLodging.net. For example, at 12 AM on January 1, these patrons can call and make a reservation for anytime through January 31 the following year.

Reservations may be made by calling the local MWR Campground Office at 8:30 AM. Call 877-NAVY-BED and go online to www.DoDLodging.net as early as 12 AM on the first of each month."

Not sure what applies or if still available, but last I looked Navy Key West had a huge overflow parking areas for campers...but if only needed for a few days may at least be on site boondocking. Probable access to water and dumping someplace. Check it out.

I was told today by Navy Beds that getting full hook up sites you had to do it online only. Direct conflict with the sites recommendation of calling at 0000.01. She said they received that direction this morning. Very confused as to what has occurred. I called at 2130 and was able to book a partial for the entire month of January P/W only. Three hours before the 0000.01 starting point. Seems the new system needs some breaking in.
Try try try again......August 1st for Febuary?

Can anyone that has been to the park tell me if they actually have sites that are P/W only.....and are they 50amp? I don't see that option on the park map.

When I booked on MWR today, it specifically stated that you had to book non-hookup site at Sigsbee, and after arriving get wait listed for a site with hookups. I dunno if there is another option unless you’re active duty.

The installation (Trumbo Point) where the Navy Gateway Inn is located has dry-camping only, no hookups, no formal parking sites, just an empty field. Go to Google maps and enter 24°33'53.7"N 81°47'41.7"W to view what I'm talking about.
BTW, last I knew, you cannot move between there and Sigsbee.

These are the 3 CG maps of NASKW CG's Gulf view is all dry-camping, Sunset View is all FHU.

This came on my reservation receipt:

** All reservations are for primitive sites. I just got off the phone with Sigsbee and was told I am actually in a Deluxe no hook up site for the month of January. I will be canceling that reservation as it is $930 for the month. I then asked about the discrepancy of call in vs online and they specified the February 1 date will be online only. They also informed me about active duty personnel being displaced due to barracks renovations, as previously posted. Gonna be a tough get this year!

So, I guess we could be at Sigsbee for 2 weeks without getting moved to a hookup site. I suppose I’d better finish my solar upgrade project.
