Retried navy and now teaching high school. Ready to get started with my dream of nice 5th wheel and 2500 Diesel. Will buy truck soon and hope to get a Chevy 2500 Duramax. I know I will be limited somewhat on what I can haul but was thinking 13000LBs Loaded for the 5th wheel. Do you all think this would be a good fit for the truck? I hate to buy something and realized I can't pull much with it. I see them all the time on roads but that don't mean they are not overloaded. I am looking at a 2011 2500 Duramax LT...any info will help.

I suggest you first identify the top three 5th wheelers you like. Then knowing each of their max loaded weight capacities, you can ensure your truck selection has the towing and braking capacity you need without having to make adjustments to the trucks suspension. The optional tow/suspension packages available on the Chevy like the Z85 consists shocks upgrade, a small increase in in tow rating, and tow wiring.

Keep in mind, like others you may choose to upgrade to a bigger and heavier 5th wheel in the future and continue to use the same diesel truck.

Thanks....I have a couple 5th wheels in mind each round 10-11K dry weight. I am looking at hauling no more than 13-13.5K..At that weight I may be overloaded for 2500 so looking more at 3500 SRW.
