Looking in the Military RV Camping and Recreation guide I find several on and off-base RV parks in the San Diego area. Any recommendations out there?

Hi; we love to camp in San Diego. Admiral Bakers is just east of Padre Stadium down the hill and has 2 golf courses if you play. There is shopping close. The other we use is on Coronado Island the Marina is right there that is a bit more crowded and close sites no shade and cool breezes from the ocean.

We like inland better more room and nice, call in your reservations they do get full.

(a procedural note ... as of a few short years ago the Padres now have their own ballpark right in the heart of downtown SanDiego and the Chargers only play at that MissionValley stadium)
but .. doesn't USMC Pendleton along the ocean at the north end of the County also have a military RV park?

In addition to Admiral Baker, there is Coronodo Island called Fiddlers Cove. But its under renovation for a year and I understand there are 10 dry camp spaces. But it would be hard to get one.

The two beach campgrounds at Camp Pendlton are Delmar and San Onofre. With Del Mar this time of year you would need to call 60 days ahead to get a reservation. Also, I recently tried San Onofre and could not get a spot in late May or first two weeks of June. There are very crowded this time of year.

ONeil up on main base at Pendleton might be easier.
