Stealth camping in a van might have been permitted before 9/11, but now It IMO is like asking for a federal court appearance.
Affirmative..... guard house still there. Just not manned 24/7. We see the locals cruising the boat storage yards frequently. Command has said reported crime has gone down....well yeah

skypilot 1; back in 2014 the base newpaper ran an article about the City of Key West and the Navy command in charge of property were in discussions about turning over Sigsbee to the city. Then it suddenly died. Have you heard anything about that?

I work at Naval Station Norfolk and there is a large parking lot just outside our building. A while back I noticed a small class C with a generator strapped to the rear bumper. I heard the gen running a couple of times when I was leaving work. I don't think anyone said anything to them but they left after few days. So, yeah, I think this could be done.

Like most things, this can be done, just like you could juggle chainsaws, till that one time. The MP/SF might let you go with just a warning, or you might have a disgruntled E3 that wants to waste his time jacking up a retired CSM. A lesson learned a long time ago was that any infraction from speeding ticket to murder is a federal jurisdiction issue. No misdemeanor or public nuisance piece of paper.

Another problem is not knowing the base, you decide to pick your little home for the night, maybe you try Fort Bragg and get a little to close to "CAG" or some other group. That can be a whole new can of worms if they decide they don't like your answers.

IMHO, this is not a camping technique I would advise. Check for the Famcamp, pay the fee and enjoy base activities not the base brig.

This is my thinking also.

The last option though would be to ask.

A couple times I was at Patrick SFB, I was told the overflow parking for RVs was the beach facility parking. It was across the street, off base. Seemed strange. Used it twice and was not bothered. So either it was true, or the Air Police just didn't care who was in that lot overnight. So asking security may help.
