The shutdown... and FamCamps

Had a talk with our FamCamp manager and she let me know that none of the FamCamp facilities should be affected by the 'shutdown'. Her boss will be off for the duration but she and the others are all paid differently and will continue to work as normal.

Ha.. in the last shutdown we were at Sherando Lake in VA. We were escorted to the front gate and told not to return by the armed federal ranger!!

MWR and similar funded facilities are not appropriated funds activities...therefore no closure due to the funding source.

If the facility was within a National Park, then access may be limited...but that is up to the manager of the Park.

In 2013 (last shutdown) the previous Administration called for the NPS to shutdown. But this time OMB is telling these entities to use alternative methods to stay open. Like the Grand Canyon is open.
But that is a different discussion.

Any FamCamp on a regular installation should be open and staffed.

Safe travels

X2. My wife worked for MWR and was paid from NAF funding.
