I find it most difficult to express, even in writing, the depth of the feelings I get when I see photos like these. I'm reminded of those who gave all so that I might come home. I think about it for too long, I get those pesky wet spots running down my cheeks.

I am appreciating it more and more since my son has been placed in harms way in the desert. Two times in Iraq and once in Afghanistan. Sure proud of that "kid".. and all the rest of the "guys" in uniform.. as well as those who have served.
Not sure where he's going next.. but.. he has a great attitude about it all.

I was not allowed to serve due to respiratory disease, I wanted to follow in my fathers foot steps. I tell those that serve or have served Thank You.
Now if a way could be found for all of those..... educated?... outspoken.... people... to understand you want to express your displeasure talk to a politician.
THANK YOU all for our country.

Pictures like these never fail to touch my heart.
Read the comments from the readers at the website, all heartfelt except one idiot, would love to buy him a ticket to Afghanistan, one way of course.

The members of the Honor Guard deserve our admiration and support not only for them but to all members past and present of our US Military, all branch's. My youngest son served in the Honor Guard from 87-91.
Thanks to all our service members and Veterans. Please remember those that are still not accounted for.

I have a good friend who was an Honor Guard. They truly are special people!

110% agree with all of the above comments and yes, it brings tears to our eyes each time we see these pictures or are fortunate enough to be there in person. I do have a question though......did these wonderful and dedicated men continue to stand guard on 9/11 as that plane hit the Pentagon. It had to come very close to them and we've often wondered what they did. I can't even imagine what went through their mind. God love all of our armed services past and present.

"Members of The Old Guard have guarded the Tomb “every second, of every day regardless of weather or holidays” since April 6, 1948."

Went to Arlington this last Saturday, very emotional experience, after walking the grounds we made our way to the Tomb of the Unknown and stood for over 40 minutes in the rain watching the Guard take his 21 steps. After about 15 minutes a young girl asked my friend and I why we were crying. I was unaware we were! I simply told her pride, sorrow and respect for my fellow countrymen.
I have to tell you, I truly had not realized we were crying and the words I uttered to this young girl must have come from above because my thoughts were miles away in a different time and place.
Thank you for letting me serve and thank God for letting me witness this incredible honor to our Military.
Ron
