U S Marine Corp National Museum
I visited the museum today and I must say it was highly educational and absolutely beautiful. As a retired Air Force CMSgt, I was truly impressed with what the Corp has accomplished, where they have been in crisis, and their contributions towards our freedoms we enjoy. My respect and admiration to all the young Marines, enlisted and officer, and the veterans who have served. Semper Fi!

It really is a very well done history of the Corps. It was a very emotional visit for me.

I've been to the museum a couple of times and I must admit it is REALLY well done. Coming from an old Navy guy that is hard to say but sometimes you have to call them as you see them.

I have also been and thank you for your kind words. I saw items in there that I actually operated during my career, especially the PRD-1.

My retirement ceremony was held there. The place is simply awesome.

A visit to the USMC Museum is not complete without a visit to the Globe & Laurel Restaurant just south of Quantico on US Rt. 1. The restaurant is owned by Major Spooner, USMC Ret. an iconic Marine. The restaurant is a museum in its own right. It is also popular with visiting police officers from all over the world attending the FBI national Academy. The restaurant has one of the largest collection of police patches I've ever seen.

That's another place to add to my "wanna see" list. We're hoping to make a trip to that part of the country next spring to see the son and his wife who are now living in Charlottesville, VA. In route, through Texas first, wanting to see a number of places including the Battleship Texas, USS Wisconsin, the Vietnam Wall and other Memorials in the DC area and catch Wright-Patterson when heading back west.

You can search on Prince William Forest. I've hiked there but never camped there (it is too close to my home). It's a nice area.

I live about 45 min from Quantico. I store my TT and camp at Bull Run Regional Park. It is not a bad place to camp and just minutes from Manassas National Battlefield Park, where I happen to be a visitor volunteer.

I stayed at Prince William Forest state park campground about 10 minutes from Quantico. Not a bad campsite with plenty in the area to do.

The County has condemned and cleared both sides of US-1 from VA-619 (Fuller Road, Iwo statue gate) North to The road split at Dumfries.. Clear cut.. 100ft on each side of US-1.. Just checked Google and the Globe & Laurel Restaurant down in Stafford.. there is another Old Corps hangout that was bulldozed in the US-1 clean up.
Camping.. Prince William Forest Park, Travel Trailer Village is the closest. There is a commercial CG South on US-1 Aquia Pines
