VA Pension Success Story

Short Version: My younger brother, 74, a 2 year Army veteran from Nam Era, is now receiving a monthly VA pension of $492. I submitted an online claim for him in Feb and in July he received 4 months back pay and his Aug check hit the bank yesterday, It would have been sooner, but he messed up on some followup paperwork they asked for. Once I got that filed for him it was approved. His only other income is $737 SS and a bit in food stamps.
I have been receiving VA Disability Compensation since I retired from the Navy in 1993, but was not aware that the VA had a pension program for non disabled vets until I read one of the regular emails from the VA.

Once I read the requirements it was pretty straightforward. KUDOS to the VA for a really painless process.
If you know a vet that would meet the requirements I highly recommend they apply.

That is a great outcome.
Also would add that surviving spouses can also get a pension if they apply and meet the requirements.

So, why not post the answer so others might benefit?
