It would be better if the clouds left and you got some sunshine. We are at the Thousand Trails park in Orlando for now, next week Sunshine Keys.

A great day to be thankful to be among the those that returned.
AND...a good free breakfast at Petro/TA Iron Skillet this morning.

It rained on our activities. Feel for all those who gave their lives for our country.

Today is Vietnam Veterans Day. I have my flag out but on a three mile walk we didn't see any others except those displayed every day. How soon we forget!

Sadly there aren’t many flags out even on the regular Veterans Day.
Thanks to all who’ve served.

Because of the many flags that are displayed improperly or the little on a stick kind that get forgotten and are left as trash...maybe not so many out there is a good thing.
Privately thinking about vets and their sacrifices and doing something overtly like displaying a flag doesn't mean one is more sincere than the other.
Sure.... I would love to see a more attentive nation to our service members... but with the smothering oversight and throwing money/pay at the military instead of granting respect and trust in the members... I just don't get too excited anymore about "national anything days".
My memories of serving with some of the best and brightest with lasting friendships makes me smile in old age and feel proud to be part of it all.
Good enough for me at least... enjoy every day as a vet that still can enjoy them...

I like to share a story about veterans.
The young boy next door grew into a nice young man. Joined the Marines, did his stint and returned home unscaved, thank goodness. He then joined the local Police force. Moved into his own place, but still visits his folks frequently.
I'm a Nam Vet and rather forget the entire episode, but am now 100% disabled and still like my beer. Last Veteran's Day my doorbell rang and there stood this young man with an 18 pack of my favorite beer. He handed it to me and simply said, "Here. Happy Veterans Day".
I almost broke down in tears on the spot.
From being spit on upon arriving home 50 plus years ago to the kid next door going out of his way to show his appreciation for what I was trying to forget is something else.
