In my book, you are part of the brotherhood.

5 minutes at any good ole happy hour would probably confirm that.

Better to be part of the "brotherhood" (especially 27 years worth) than just have veteran stamped on their drivers license. Met a few of those that worked a few years, or maybe worse their whole 20 yr career, in Wash, DC and played golf every Friday afternoon.

retired

I agree. His is one of us. I spent 31 1/2 years in the Army. Drafted in 1995 and retired in 1997. Two years in DC while on active duty. Never played golf until I was 74 and started with the neighborhood group. I am not even close to the oldest! Two years in Vietnam flying helicopters and 17 years in Joint assignments with brothers and sisters from other services and agencies.

Don't forget to use the military bases FamCamps, we do. We especially like Pensacola, Mayport and Key West.
Another nice National Guard base is in Wisconsin called Fort McCoy. Really nice, open to the public, because it is off base area.
