I would be interested to know if anyone has come up with a solution to stop cats clawing the mesh on the screen door - our cat hangs off it to attract our attention for getting in and out. As we are about to start full timing we don't want to have to keep replacing the mesh all the time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Don't know about the outside coming in but on the inside we use a screen door protecter. We got it at Camping World but you can get them at any hardware type store (Lowes, Home Depot) We also fulltime with 3 cats and though we originally got it to keep a dog from tearing out the screen it works perfectly for the cats also since the bars are to close together for them to "attack" the screen.

I put up the metal screen door protector, but also replaced the screen (had to) with pet screening I got at Home Depot. Between the 2 I haven't had a hole in the screen door yet.

Lorene, I do hope you are not planning on letting your cat out of the RV once you go fulltiming!!! Unless, of course, it's on a leash with you at the other end. Every single RV park we've ever been to has rules about leashing your pets...and that would include cats if they are outside.
PLEASE don't let your cat out to get eaten by coyotes or to eat birds, or to go digging holes on other people's sites to poop in.

Thank you for your responses. We do not live in the US - we are based in New Zealand so suitable products here are a little more difficult to find because we are a small country. I did manage to find some really good pet proof mesh locally.
Linda thank you for your advice. Sassy always stays in the RV with us and if outside is in a large cage or on the leash. We have a special catch on the screen door so she can't push it open. She is too special to us

The trailer I got to fix up, it had lattuce on the door over the screen, its decrotive and works, or you can use the metal stuff that you can find at home depot to over the screen . I have 5 cats that will be going with me when its ready for travel

my solutions: went to home depot(or any hardware store) bought a piece of lexan(clear plastic) attached it to the bottom panel of the screen door with small square pieces of velcro. Our cat can look out, but cannot tear the screen. He had been getting his claws stuck in the mesh , now I am happy and hopefully he is too. He doesn't jump up to the upper portion of the screen door. Hope this helps.Dona
