Directory of 24/7 emergency vets

We unfortunately have to travel with a very sick dog whose my wife's service dog. Leaving him home isn't an option - separation anxiety will be seriously detrimental.

Does anyone have a reliable directory/web site of emergency veterinarians?

We'll be travelling from Nebraska to Mississippi and back.

Thanks!

If above Google don't work try animal hospital near me. Most vets have a recording for nearest emergency vet.

When we've traveled with pets that had ailments we'll get the vet to issue us any needed meds, or prescriptions that can be filled at people pharmacies. We'd also have them give us a written diagnosis/treatment plan both for our benefit as well as having something to show to any vet we'd need on the road. No question we'd rather have them with us than to board them somewhere.

We always carry vet records with us and since we have a 23 year old cat I make sure I have all his info with us. One of our Maine Coons was in kidney failure for 3 years, I always carried a full prescription of him medication with us. I did research to have a 24 hour vet contact in any city we were spending time in, now it is really difficult since so many are not accepting patients but the emergency centers that are open 24/7 are worth their weight in gold when time is of the essence.

I also carry a hard copy of my guys medical records. This way, if there is an emergency, the vet that is treating your pet has everything that they need and do not have to ask you the history of the animal when time might be of the essence.

I also carry a bag of lactated ringers in my emergency kit. Do you use that to by-pass your cat's kidney's? I had a dog that was in renal failure and the Vet told me how many ml's a day to keep him hydrated and help take the load off of the kidney's.

As Moose's disease progressed our RV travel ceased, I would not take him away from his comfort level and vet. He was a show cat so was used to carriers and travel but I was not. I still miss that boy.

I am so sorry!! I misunderstood your post. I thought that he was traveling with you.

You love all of your animals, but there are those who's loss hurts just a bit more.
