I ma real upset now because I have to have my dog Max down tomorrow. He is a Portchaese Water Dog & is 13 years old. He has always had an attitude but it has gotten worse. He has been to several vets, has attended 'doggie boot camp', and is on 'doggie downers' but nothing helps! He just 'snaps' and has bitten several people including my wife this morning and her brother last weekend! Max we all love you and will miss you a lot expecially when we are camping in the motorhome. May you rest in peace!

So sorry to hear of the problem. Dogs will get senile just like people. We are fortunate that we can put a dog down when it comes time to make the decision. It is rough and our thoughts go out to you.

I'm so sorry about Max. I had to put my big dog down a while back, and it is sooo hard. It's a tough decision that loving down owners make.

WAIT PLEASE...
There may be another reason behind it...There is a type of Canine Agression Seizure Disorder that is not like ordinary seizures and it can be controlled by a pill in the AM and PM. I would have never believed it ...but I took one of our dogs in to the vet for a similar behavior. He actually would have a seizure of sorts, but unless you watched him closely you would not notice it. he would actually "freeze" for a few seconds ...hardly noticable ...almost unmentionable to the vet...BUT LUCKILY I DID!

We now have a lovable pet that is as happy and active as our other dog...that takes a pill twice a day - and luckily ...the pills are cheap!(I think less than $5.00 a month...and worth every penny!)

Good Luck...and I hope I am not too late!!!

PS...I guess should ask what type of "downer" he is on...

Max is now in a better place. Over the past years we took him to several vets for numerous tests. They all think that he was a mixed breed with part chow. The chow part gave him a temper and like the this morning, I was petting his head than when my son went to also, he snapped a him with no warning. Max, goodbye, we all will miss you!

So very sorry about Max. My dear Sally was Akita and Chow and never had a problem with agression of ANY sort, so I hope the Chow part of Max wasn't to blame. No matter the reason, we all grieve for our precious pets when we lose them.
