New addition !!!

Last June we had to let Dino cross the bridge.
We thought we were done.....so heart breaking
*course we say that each time

Well after looking/applying and not finding the right one we almost gave up
*We do Rescues.....Older ones

Then one day this little guy caught our attention at the Local Humane Society Shelter.
He was MUCH younger then we had planned on and had some unknowns (housebroken, basic training, temperament etc)

After talking it over we agreed to give it a try......
Then he was GONE!!! Oh NO--

2 days later he was BACK???
Story was the adopters returned him cause 'unprovoked' he nipped their 5 yr old.
OK.....we 're old---no kids....lets go see him.

Off we go to the shelter-----30 miles one way---and when we get there they inform us that he is on pre-adoption hold
Lady came in before us and wanted to adopt but has another dog so the Shelter requires the other dog to be brought in and introduced/evaluated.

Asked when that was suppose to happen...by 4pm otherwise He would be back up for adoption.
Left our phone number but didn't except a call.

tic-tok-tic-tok
4PM comes no call...DANG IT!

4:15 phone rings....it's the shelter. The other people didn't call/come back. Were we still interested.
Oh YEAH! but shelter closes at 4pm and the next day is Christmas.

Shelter lady said COME ON DOWN>>>>>>off we went.

Long story/short...we adopted 'Nelson' a 4 yr old mini Poddle weighing in at 14 lbs.

We changed his name to SAMMY (he just wasn't a Nelson)

And now for the Revel.........Here's SAMMY

He is a QUICK learner.
Housebroken (one accident), gentle/sweet (you couldn't provoke him with a stick), has settled in as if he always belonged.
We got a great Christmas Gift!!

Dogs

We lost our Bichon / Poodle Roger in July to kidney failure he was 15 and a great traveling dog. We searched high and low at shelters and rescues in 5 surrounding states . They didnt want to give us a dog as swe were over 60. Finally got a call from a rescue lady in Ca. went and got him as soonn as possible. Biscuit he looks just like your Sammy! He was just over 1 and house trained . The wife said hes no Scooby hes Reggie! Hes a great dog and great Traveler jumps in motorhome every chance he gets. Your dog will be great Too!

Very nice addition. They tear your heart out when it's time for them to leave but the devotion they give while they are with us makes up for it.

Congrats on the addition.

Exactly a year ago tomorrow we adopted Marley or I should say she adopted us. She had spent the previous 2-3 years living under various coaches at a resort we were staying in. The pound would pick her up but were going to euthanize her as they had picked her up many times before. She is a exact looking twin to "Benji" of movie fame.

It was the best New Year's gift we had ever gotten.

Good luck with Sammy!

Well that's truly a Merry Christmas, Biscuit! He looks like he made himself right at home and comfortable.

So now shelters are discriminating? They'd rather have a dog sit there in the facility, or even worse, put down before letting someone over 60 adopt them. Geez I just turned 53 and get around like there's no tomorrow. I guess in seven years I can hang it up and just sit in the recliner (guess I better buy one).
