Last June we had to let Dino cross the bridge.
We thought we were done.....so heart breaking
*course we say that each time
Well after looking/applying and not finding the right one we almost gave up
*We do Rescues.....Older ones
Then one day this little guy caught our attention at the Local Humane Society Shelter.
He was MUCH younger then we had planned on and had some unknowns (housebroken, basic training, temperament etc)
After talking it over we agreed to give it a try......
Then he was GONE!!! Oh NO--
2 days later he was BACK???
Story was the adopters returned him cause 'unprovoked' he nipped their 5 yr old.
OK.....we 're old---no kids....lets go see him.
Off we go to the shelter-----30 miles one way---and when we get there they inform us that he is on pre-adoption hold
Lady came in before us and wanted to adopt but has another dog so the Shelter requires the other dog to be brought in and introduced/evaluated.
Asked when that was suppose to happen...by 4pm otherwise He would be back up for adoption.
Left our phone number but didn't except a call.
tic-tok-tic-tok
4PM comes no call...DANG IT!
4:15 phone rings....it's the shelter. The other people didn't call/come back. Were we still interested.
Oh YEAH! but shelter closes at 4pm and the next day is Christmas.
Shelter lady said COME ON DOWN>>>>>>off we went.
Long story/short...we adopted 'Nelson' a 4 yr old mini Poddle weighing in at 14 lbs.
We changed his name to SAMMY (he just wasn't a Nelson)
And now for the Revel.........Here's SAMMY
He is a QUICK learner.
Housebroken (one accident), gentle/sweet (you couldn't provoke him with a stick), has settled in as if he always belonged.
We got a great Christmas Gift!!
