You develope a special bond with a 4 legged pet and it is a hard lose. People that have not had a loved pet, just do not understand the loss.
My big boy Teddy (black and silver schnauzer and #3) presence is still felt around here at times after 3.5 years. I think at times he is here to help guide Abby and helped here settle in and become a great pet like he was.

Beautiful poem.... Lost my 12 yr old Westie in December, but a new 9 week old female Westie is now in my home and heart. LitaBit has been with ys a week, and I know she will be as special as my Mannie was.

So sorry for your loss but I envy you having a nine week old Westie in the house!!!
I'm sure she's a great distraction and aids your transition. Our Westies are six and sixteen... and we're enjoying them every day.

Thank you Sarah... Shelby left us this morning 2-9-2013... Oliver is lost,,, looking around,,, and so are we... Geez , pet's are such a great joy, great company,,, here they are part of the family,,, but this part just stinks........ Picture , Shelby was on the right,,, Oliver left... It takes times like this to really appreciate the people you work with... The guy I run with now to Oklahoma City, he's #1, I'm # 2 . He let me leave early on a Saturday morning so I could get home and be there.... Also our dispatcher in OK City was good with it, and got me out earlier than any of us have been recently... Thankyou Tom and Nancy... ... Either could have said no... I just cannot thank them enough,, but I'm sure going to try...

My last big dog was a female Harlequin and she was great to be with. Loved riding in my Volvo and shoving her head up through the roof and letting the wind blow through her jowls and ears. It took me years to get over her loss and the Furb filled that hole very nicely.
I offer our sincere condolences on your loss because they really do wiggle their way into our hearts and thoughts and reside there. So sorry for your Oliver too .

So sorry for all of you who've lost a pet. People who don't have pets or don't like animals just don't get it. They quickly become part of the family.

Thank you SO MUCH to everybody... It is a part of having a pet being a Family member, to a lot of us,,,, that doesn't make it any easier... Why can't they just pass away in their sleep ??? I'm trying to avoid any R word to go against forum rules... Guess things that are worthy are not easy to come by, or deal with...
My Benny, a rescue Dane,("bulldozer head") like Shelby was,(rescue) would ride in the back of DW's Tracker with the top down, at stop lights the whole car would rock side to side,, with him breathing... He was a big boy... Escape artist also.. I cursed him many times,,, but loved him all the same time...
Now we are down to one 'kid',, (4 Danes and a pompoo at one time) for now... sort of weird... Guess we'll make our next big trip with our "only" ...
Thanks again everybody,,, I can relate to your losses also...

Sad to hear
Monkey;
Sand to hear of your loss, they do leave a big hole in our hearts when they pass on. I still tear up when I think of my Shelby Girl she was a big part of my life as was my PIA kitty. It is a lonely life now, but to soon to adopt another fur kid. I suppose I will someday, so many animals need good home with lots of care and love. We know how to do that don't we?

Yes Kayjulia, we will have another,,, all of ours have been rescues, or animal shelter kids,,, except our present Oliver,,, he is an AKC doggy... No we don't breed, we rather adopt... Just so happened he came into our life... We have fostered, transported rescues,,, etc... Not much anymore, but still believe in it.... Oliver, (6 yrs old now) is driving us nuts wanting us to play... when he is not sulking.. (a good thing to play) Thankyou....
