I'll be heading out from the Phoenix area on Wednesday, for Denver and the Rocky Mountain Cluster Dog Shows 2/12 - 2/16.

The first challenge will be to get there in the RV; storms are hitting the West with rain, snow and ice. The second challenge will be making the trip solo with the whole wicked whippets crew.

Mrs. Wicked, being a CPA, is a tad busy this time of year so she will fly in for the weekend.

The final challenge will be to dig out the RV after the storm that is forecast for next weekend.

I'll post some pix from the show and provide updates.

If there's anyone heading to the show, please chime in and let's develop a snow survival strategy!

WW--
We are not going but there will be 65 mastiffs there!
I did that show one year--about 10 inches of snow on the ground and wickedly COLD The snow would stick and freeze to Luna's paws when she went out to pee to the point that she would limp! It was below zero!
So I no longer go to those shows! I do this for fun .

Best of luck!

Just sat down (10:30 pm) to have a sandwich and then hit the sack. I left Phoenix at 7 am following a friend in her RV. All went well until we arrived at the Albuquerque Indian casino where we will park for the night. She somehow caught the engine exhaust pipe on a tall curb, it mashed flat, broke loose from the exhaust hanger and was "sucked" under the left rear wheels.

We just spent 3 hrs with a hacksaw, a winch and wood blocks to jury rig the exhaust. It's not pretty, but hopefully it will get her to Denver where she can drop it off for more permanent repairs.

It's gonna take a couple hours to thaw out! I never knew ABQ was this cold. The wind is incredible!

The wicked whippets proved their name by tearing up a cushion for a brand new pet bed while I was working on her RV.

Because of the icy conditions on I-40 we were advised to take the southern route (I-10 east to I-25 north). It added a few hours to the trip, but probably was safer.

Off to Denver in the morning.

Got parked at the show site in Denver. My pal hasn't arrived yet. One of her whippets took a dump on her bed, so she had to find a laundromat along the way.

Her exhaust system fix held up. I'm wondering if she would be okay to make the return trip and get it fixed in Phoenix.

The wicked whippets are trying to figure out this cold thing...definately cooler than Arizona!

You are one brave man. Denver in February? Not for me. After so many Alaskan winters, I have no desire to see snow again any time soon. And to drive our motorhome into it? No way.

Hope it turns out to be worth the trip and you come home with a lot of purple ribbons.

As for your friend and her exhaust system, AKBrick thinks if the fix has held up well to Denver - meaning it still looks the same as it did when you first fixed it, not loosening up or moving around or anything, it will probably get her home again. But ask around among other RVers there who can look at it first hand. Best to be safe when it comes to something like that.

Good luck this weekend.

A little snow...temps in the teens. Now I know why people move to Arizona and Florida this time of the year!

The exhaust fix looks okay, but it's 1,000+ miles back to her house in Arizona. My greatest concern is having cut off the damaged section, the new tip is under the coach; gases may leak back into the coach.

We were both running low on water so we headed to the Flying J in Aurora. They have a dump and after finishing mine I had her pull up. When we opened the water bay door, there was a big lump of really stinky ice. She hadn't totally closed the black water valve when we left Arizona and it had been slowly dripping for days in freezing weather.

As for the show...Mystic won the 6-9 month class and Claire finished third in her class. So far, no points at this show. The wicked whippets are fully capable, I just need to do a better job of showing them.
