Weekend Dog sitting
We spent this past weekend dog setting with my Son's dog Faith. She just made her self at home and plopped on the couch.
She was rescued from certain death  She had been scheduled to be euthanized because no one wanted to adopt her because she looked like a pit bull. She may have been a mixed breed with some pit bull or boxer.
He wasn't sure he would be able to keep her because the dog and the cat couldn't get along at first and he was afraid the dog would kill the cat.
Now after several claws to the nose they have become friends.

However, she just might go camping with us sometime.

She looks great. I love how she sits on the sofa and with the cat. There are so many great dogs and cats out there that need to be adopted.

Another weekend of Dog setting
We volunteered to baby set our Grand dog, Faith, who several months ago wanted to eat cats. We have kept her and our 3 cats separated for the most part, but Boo has been very curious about her and decided to take a closer look today.
Boo jumped up on the counter and since there were some treats nearby I though I would give him some to see what would happen since Faith was close to the counter. I offered Faith one and as you can see the two are not trying eat each other

I do have a question:
Are you aware that both dogs and cats can be taught to NOT go on counters and/or tables?

Our last three Labs were/are rescues. We got our choc female when she was about 7 months old direct from a family that had fallen apart. She lived to be 14. We had a male at the time who suffered badly from separation anxiety. They got along very well and Sam's anxiety problem disappeared. They both were fine with the cat. After the cat died, we didn't get another one.
That male died at 12 and the female was so upset, we went to the local Humane and got Bailey. That was 5 years ago and he's now just turned 10. After Cocoa died, we tried to get along with just one Lab, but we couldn't. We went looking and found Angus, who was 8 at the time, through a pure-breed rescue group. He turned 9 in February.

No, I wasn't aware of that 
I've tried to teach my dogs not to lick their rear end and other private parts, before they kiss me, but I haven't managed to do that

No not really, probably to clean themselves, like cats do when they groom themselves.
No joke, I just thought it interesting how some people worry about cats being on tables and counters, but don't seem to worry about where a dogs mouth and tongue has been before they kiss us.

Because they CAN!
BTW, I don't let any dogs, (including mine), kiss/lick me, (we love them but not THAT MUCH)!
Our cats learned at an early age not to go on the kitchen counters or the table, (in both the house and the coach).
