breaking the news

So I have decided to choose full timing as my life style. I don't want to be tied down in a s&b and I told the family and friends and I didn't get the response I thought I would get. So my question is how do you deal with the negativity from family and friends about this life style?

You tell them that someday you will return to the s&b life but for now you want to travel.

That worked for us, somehow thinking we would settle down again someday seemed to satisfy friends and family.

IMO, do what will make you happy. I'm sure you have thought long and hard about this, so it is something you have dreamed of doing. You only live once, be free.

It's your decision, not theirs. Just maybe they're jealous of your choice and ability to do it!!! Don't worry 'bout what they think!
Have Phunn!!

Could they just be concerned about your safety? Perhaps if they are re-assured of your research and preparation they will be more accepting. If not, their loss! Go and have an adventure.

You simply buy a front license plate.. And when thy yammer you show it to them

"I'm spending
My childrens
Inheritance.

The above is a joke. but I find that HUMOR is often the way to deal with that kind of thing.. And they really do sell that license plate.

Rving is not half as bad as when I told everyone I was going to the Caribbean in a 35' sailboat! People told me I should put all my stuff in storage, I'd come back soon, etc. Only a very few were supportive. When I told my brother that I now wanted to take off in an RV, he answered that he would rather see me on land than another boat! Guess he got used to me being a gypsy spirit.

Do it, and send wonderful messages and photos back and make them all jealous!!! And have a great time!!

You say family, I take it as you are speaking of your parents or brothers and sisters right? If so, well like others said it is your life.

If family you are speaking of wife and kids then that is another story.
Keeping the S&B is always an option, rent it out, place to fall back on if you want to come back.

Wouldn't you be somewhat dissappointed if they did not show care and concern? It is a natural phenonomon. They love you, you are part of their life. That being said, you are the captain of your ship and do what you want to do. Like another o/p said, I am sure you have thought this over very carfefully. Check in with them often, until they get used to you being just fine. Have fun, enjoy and come back soon Y'all.
