There are a lot of resources for gun laws - if you have a concealed permit in your home state you can check to see who reciprocates that permit. If you can't find what you're looking for in Google let me know and I can offer some links.
Handgun laws are the worst and seem to change the quickest.
Don't go to NY state or NYC!

Long Guns or Hand Guns?
Concealed or Stored for transport?
Hope this helps you out, Federal & State Firearm Laws. One of many places to start your search. You can also call the individual state law enforcement and ask.

My feeling is that if you want to keep a gun of any sort in your Motohome, do it. Be aware that you probably would hesitate to use it, and that hesitation will get you killed.
I would suggest that you keep a can of Wasp Spray close at hand. That is something you would use without hesitation and if it turned out to be the wrong person you can allways say sorry, rather than having to call the coroner.
The Wasp Spray WILL stop them !!!

Thanks for the info. I had wondered if you needed a permit for each state you traveled through. Frankly, I would rather be safe and take my chances on the laws

Here is the website that will allow you to see what states honor your CCW (Carry Concealed Weapon) license. Note: Even though you live in a certain state (lets say TN), you can also legally obtain a Florida CCW permit. It is honored in more states than TN. You can have more than one CCW permit for that reason only.
But, I digress: here is the website: Handgunlaw.us

Yep, only the outlaws and corrupted police can have weapons! I feel safer already.

Not entirely true. You can't take HANDGUNS into Canada. You CAN take long guns with a permit.

Actually Americans can take handguns into Canada but the rules are unruly for most. You have to be headed to a recognized pistol competition to be allowed to bring your pistols. I apologize to all my gun toting friends from south of the border who have to leave their toys at home. I wish I were as free to carry a pistol as most of you are at present.

I bought a taser from taser.com. Hope never to use it, but won't hesitate if necessary. I also bought an emergency locator. Traveling alone I think this piece of equipment is even more important than a weapon for protection. McMurdo Fast Find 210 Personal Locator Beacon with GPS at REI.com
Like everything, there are more expensive locators, but I thought this would meet my needs just fine.
Flashlights, etc., but good common sense and awareness of surroundings are my best weapon of choice.

The only concealed weapon permit that is recognized in all fifty states, is a retired police officer permit. This is permitted by federal law.
