Hi Ryegal
Oh , yeah the timing chain skipping a tooth or two would account for the loud noises. Backfires . If the muffler blew a hole it was getting weak anyway.. Were the valves ok ?

Hope it gets put back together with no more problems so you can get out n about.

I've been replacing a blown brake line on mine. Got the new copper nickel type and it bent very easily . Thinking I'll replace them all eventually....rust is a real problem here in the N.E. , so much salt on the roads in the winter...copper nickel is much better than the old steel ones.

Trying to get a bleeder valve loose next , a PB Blaster shower for it , then let it soak in for a few days .

I'm starting to work 5 days a week here at the lake tomorrow. So repairs are going slowly here too.

What was the thread title with your Barth pics?

Hi Popeye, on the vintage forum on page 8 the 5th one down is my Barth. The muffler was new the noise was from the carburetor being to rich is what I have been told. Jerry my friend just wants to make sure it is fixed right. I was planning a long trip and he wants me to be safe.
That,s good news that you are working 5 days a week right??? You must like it right? how long will you stay there ? Where is your home base? Thanks This is a lesson in patience lol Oh yes and I'm Irish

Hello

Hi Popeye and 39
Thank you for liking my Barth I love it and would never sell it. After July I will be back on the road again and plan to go so for the winter.
My dear friend passed last Sat. But she is no longer in any pain. I am helping the family with her things. This forum has been great I love it thanks

Ryegal

Well , I just went to the vintage photos page and scanned pages 127 thru 132 and still couldn't find your Barth , guess I'm forum search challenged !

I did see some nice ones of a 1975 class C on the Barth forums though !
I tried to attach the pics but the program told me that they (jpegs) were not valid image files ?????? Oh well I've got them to look at anyway and you just have to go outside to look at one !!

Another day in paradise here today , I took one of the row boats and a paddle board paddle , stood in the bow and sculled around the marina moving float lines to mark rocks and ledges . Then smashed my new watch trying to move a wooden bench ...... Arrrggghhhhh Time for lunch !

popeye,

If you click on the link in my former post and then look for post #103 in the right ^^^^^^ upper corner of the posts you will find it. This post should be #260 in this thread. Your immediately preceding post is #259. Hope that helps.

welcome Andy

Hi Andy and all, I have been grounded for several reasons due to family , friends and mechanical problems but there is light of the tunnel... maybe I will be on the road by August. so where have some of you been ? and where would you like to go you haven't been?
Most people like coming here and then disappear and we never hear from them again. Izzy and I have been around for a few years. I have been on the road off and on from the 80s I love it would still like to see the east coast and the south and a few other places. lol my favorite thing whats down this road??? Have any of you seen the movie San Andrea?? I want to see it as my grandparents survived the 1906 . Remember to post take care friends happy travels

San Andeas

Yes! I saw it! Goofy dialog, and lame plot, but boy, I sure enjoyed seeing my least favorite state getting obliterated!

Lol!

Anyway, will be traveling within the next couple months! Can't wait!

Good morning all

I love my Barth and have done a lot to the inside and now I'm thinking of getting it painted just the bottom part. Once I get it running next is new tires then paint.
Popeye hows the work going? Where is everyone spending the winter ?

I've had rain on three of six trips I've been on this year. Happens sometimes.
