Thanks for the get well wishes!! I am feeling alot better, and now know I need to make sure I take care of myself alot better. I let my self get too stressed and didn't listen to my body's warning signs. I am looking forward to a great 2013 and a fresh start to my life.

I'll introduce myself - I'm from upstate NY, am 68, travel in what may be the smallest RV (a 17' Escape 17B) and while not full timing, have been taking long trips - 111 days in 2011 & 138 days in 2012. I love to travel - have now made 10 cross country trips, 8 in tents & the last two in the trailer.
I'll be staying on the east coast next summer, and plan to spent the following winter in NM & AZ.

Vermyle: Just read your post on your 17' Escape and the mods you have done to it. EXCELLENT! I suddenly got the urge to get back into the RV world. At 80 I recently left it after the death of DW. My rig was too big and cumbersome for just one person and a cat. I love RV'g and have been at it for 40 years. Your approach appears completely doable and makes sense. You have done a great job to the Escape 17B

Hi! I am new to the forum! I am fairly new to RVing as well. I am 65 and retired from the gov't. I sold my home, bought a TT and moved into an RV resort. It has been a year since then. It got small and I got restless. I traded for a 5th Wheel but soon realized I am stuck without a large enough truck to pull it around. I am looking at older Class A and C coaches but am a little intimidated by them and unsure of my next step since I would be without a vehicle if I travel that way. Hoping to get it all figured out soon!

Hi Sue: My two cents. Upgrade your hauler for your 5ver. It would be the cheapest way to go. I have almost always had "A" & "C" coaches. They are nice, easy to dock etc, but you will most certainly need a toad. M/H's require a lot of maintenance, very poor fuel mileage. They depreciate very quickly, do not have the storage and sleeping room you may want. If I were to change today it would be to a TT or a 5ver. A 5ver being the first choice.

I vacillated between an A and a C Class Motor Home for a long time. I bought a Class A (Fleetwood Bounder 33U). It is a driving experience operating a BUILDING on wheels. Looking back the Class C is a far easier vehicle to drive, although the Class A has more livability when parked. I never considered a TT or 5th Wheel as they seem to be more work than an A or C when traveling.

Thanks for the info. It has been really different living in a 5th wheel full time. It was never this hard to make a decision when I had more experience with the choices!

Well hello to all!
My name is Tom. I live in Clearwater Florida. I'm still working until about the first of February (my retirement didn't take). I am in the process of learning about the RV life. I recently acquired an elderly National Dolphin DP.
I really have almost no experience at this, so I'm lurking around the web sites, learning all I can. I hope to start some real traveling this spring.
I do plan to go to the big RV show in Tampa in January. Hopefully we can find a way for some of us to rendezvous and meet if we have some more that are planning to attend.
So really, that's about all I know. Please let's keep this going so that we have a common meeting point.
Tom

Sue, Don't be intimidated by a class A. I bought my 36' motor home one year ago and couldn't be happier. I am a 62 year old single woman with 2 dogs. Previously I had never driven anything bigger than a dually pickup truck. My mother drove a school bus until forced by her age to retire. She was a lot smaller and "wussier" than I am, and no one had the nerve to tell her she couldn't do it, so why not me? I find it fun to drive. Susan
