I think I am ready to get out on the road a bit more now, a smaller unit would make that easier to do. I am finding dealers just as hard headed as they always were. In fact the dealer I dealt with today, told me his business has never been better. Of course we all know about truth and dealers.
It's easy to tell when a Dealer is lying, his lips move!

RV Dealers . . . .

Amen to that.

When I first started looking at RVing, I was eyeing a 2007 Everest 5th wheel, 4 slider, nice rig, priced out at $64k. After some wheeling and dealing it got down to $56k. I walked away to look at some used RV's and after that, I got a phone call from the dealer every week . . . by the time they were through, that rig had gone all the way down to $36k. Now is there THAT MUCH mark up in these things? If so, I will definitely continue to buy used . . . .

There is a hefty mark up no question about it. When I bought my 01 Suncruiser new. I was able to get one dealer to take 11K off the price which another dealer maintained was rock bottom. I am very much in agreement, used, is a great way to go. Just be sure to negotiate a new matress in the deal. I would love it if some one else spent the whole first year getting all the warranty items taken care of. The trick is trying to determine where the rig came from. I insist on some sort of maintenance log. No log - no buy. I have seen some of these rigs going down the highway with huge trailers on the back that weighed as much as the motor home itself, Flea Marketeers. That is hard on the whole drive line. However on average most Rvers take excellent care of their rigs. Lots of Re-Po's on the lots right now.

Smile Start Something Different

I don't know if it will work or if anyone else is already doing it... but I'm going to put a chalk or white board next to my door when I'm parked and list Extra items I have and Items I need and will trade for... There is just no way I can use a whole head of lettuce, loaf of bread or a dozen eggs... so trade 1/2 for something you do need

I boil half of a dozen eggs, they last a long time that way, are great in salads, a quick snack, even deviled. Some major chains sell eggs in six packs, that should not be too much to handle. I have the same problem with bread, so I buy buns and freeze them, they last forever. Lettuce-- I use Glad "Press N Seal" it seals all the air out of a half head of lettuce and it will last a fair time that way. Milk is still a problem, even though I freeze at least half of every container.

Besides keeping cooler, it is debatable that you get better mileage with the generator and AC that with the cab AC on. Argumrnts both ways, but if I am in hills, I get more useable driving power without the cab AC. The generator and AC don't use any engind power. BTW, there is no problem running both if it is really hot out on the road.

Another good thing is the new vacuum bags and battery pumps. Cut veggies, cheese, and lots of otherr stuff will keep a lot longer in vacuum bags.

Talking Always Plugged In

I've solved my electrical problem... I'll always be plugged into 120 Volt now

TY Rick!!!.... IM

PS My town is a Hells' Angels town and they say none of those bikers could pass these new rules that came into effect in 2006.... Think of 5 half-filled milk jugs at 9 foot intervals making up a slalom course, coming out of a U-turn.... I touched nada!!! Almost never beat the course on many hours of practice... Maybe the guy felt sorry for me? My visor was wet with snow and would not stay up so I was doing much essentially 'blind'.... Perhaps that is the answer LOL???
