Head beads can be found on Aussie sites via google and a few U.K. sites.

They are used for outdoor cooking in lieu of charcoal or wood, ie. with a Dutch Oven. Per one Aussie I know are much more efficient, steady temperature, no smoke, no flame. If any are left after cooking, they can be reused

Has anyone used these heat beads?

Can heat beads be purchased on this continent? Where?

Heat Beads is a registered trademark in Australia for ordinary charcoal.

Yes, I got a definite answer on that yesterday from Derek, who runs this site Australian Camp Oven Cooking
