Hind-sight is 20/20 but I suspect you will wish it was wider. One option you have for the future is add some 4x4 posts to the side and add sloping roof wings to it. You could enclose part as a storage shed of sorts or storing flammables or other gear you want protected. The extra width will give more working room and help keep the elements off. You will like the additional height you have when you do roof cleaning and inspections.
