I am not the expert on the air pump, but I would think some of these diesel truck forums may help, while they dont use an air pump I thought they used it for vacuum? Anyway, could you get the surface flat again by removing it and using a flat file on the halves? Also, if it is running and you unscrew the oil filler cap on top of the engine can it sit there without blowing off? Typically if you are blowing a seal or a gasket it has to do with high crank case pressure? I hope that is not the issue, but the good thing is the engines are not stupid expensive to rebuild or just buy compared to pretty much any other diesel.

    Good luck!

We sold it because everything was working perfectly and it still looked newish, seriously. I sold the Toad F150 yesterday and am now looking for a heavy pickup with a flat bed so I can haul any type of camper...truck camper, 5th wheel or Trailer. I see an nice truck and an old camper in my future, since the camper might see 3 trips a year I cant see the need for a fancy one anymore.

As for the Vectra, we did not want to take a major hit on depreciation over the next 4 years and we new it would be sitting too much with our current life plan/path. Laura retires in 4 and we move south and will be buying a house in north Fla and since her dad that lived in Florida passed last October we just did not have any long term plans for the coach, no real family visits that require a 2 day drive planned and storing it inside is just cost prohibitive.

What prompted you to sell your MH? Are you going to replace it with something else, or go without an RV?

I plan to keep mine (a twin to yours). The only problem I'm still having is an oil leak on the base plate of the air compressor. The bolts loosen up after a couple hundred miles, and it leaks enough oil to splatter my towed vehicle. I've replaced the gasket several times, replaced the lock washers, tried different kinds of gasket goop (silicone, #2 Permatex, #1 Permatex) all to no avail. I even tried orange Lock-tite, which is supposed to be stronger than blue but still removable with a wrench without applying heat. That proved to be worthless! Must be a vibration that loosens the bolts.

Whatever your goal is, Good Luck to you!!
