Crap, I just saw this. I wish I had taken a picture...for my benefit trying to reassemble and for your dilemma.

I don't remember and by now you have probably gotten yours back together.
I think they were press fit but I don't remember.
Doh.

Crap. I had to take mine apart a couple of years ago as a leaf got into the gears and it would stop rotating. It took me a while to get all that monkey motion back together.
I can't remember what the gears did.
Seems like I just had to play around with it until I got it right. I vowed next time to take a picture.
Maybe you can find an exploded view from Winegard?
I'm not much help am I....


I can tell you in detail how to power back an MD80 from the gate though.
