Thank you for your post Chef Guy; it saved me having to buy a new pump - based on your comment that after cleaning the pump it worked again. I had the same symptoms (after agitating the pump propeller it sometimes worked again) and after taking the pump out and cleaning it behind the propeller it started working again. Not sure for how long, but for now it works.
