The total cost of our solar/LFP battery bank was $16K. Son designed and fabricated as family project and we only paid for the parts at his contractor rate.

The LFP batteries were around $6K for the set to include battery management system. The price for LFP is going down. the 8.6 kW-hr (48 V nominal) storage is probably more than we really require. Half of that or around 4 kW-hrs is probably sufficient for most purpose since that is 3.2 kW-hrs of usable energy. Our battery bank weighs 250# and an equivalent lead acid would weigh almost 1000#.

Thanks for your service. I was parachute infantry with 173rd Airborne Brigade in RVN 1966-67. I wound up as team leader with 173rd Airborne Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Platoon. ETS'ed April 1967.
