This restricted my answer to 1000 characters, I apologize, I cut and pasted in the wrong portion. Should still make sense?

The largest difference for my family is the '99 had 1 slide, so we had much more room when traveling than the '09 with 3 slides (one full wall), but my, when we are parked it is like having an apartment.

My trailer is 24' with 3' v nose and a 5' extended tongue with torsion axles. The trailer rides very smooth, I have a side ramp door on the curb side to load my Road Glide and I can put any of my vehicles in the rear ramp door.

This is my second American Eagle, first one was a 1999, this one is 2009. I love the coach and especially the customer service from American Coach. I have a 425 hp Cummins in my 2009, I set the cruise about 1740 rpm which is around 65. I am pulling 10,000 lbs and it seems to do real good. I went to Breckenridge, CO day after Christmas and pulling in the mountains I couldn't maintain speed limit on the incline but had very few trucks pass me. The tag axle makes it much more stable than my non tag 1999.

Make sure you have rear ramp door beefed up based on weight you will be putting into the trailer.

American makes a great coach in my opinion, I love the Spartan chassis, but the '14 American has went to Freightliner which I don't know if that was the best decision.

Good luck in your decision making.
