I've had to rebuild the cylinders on my curbside slide which means I pulled them out the street side. They were a pain but doable and not much clearance at all. If memory serves I extended it and placed some blocking underneath in which to use my floor jack and porta-power to slightly raise the slide enough to slip the cylinder past the lower trim.
