"New posts" problem

I had logged on at 16:03 today. I logged on again at 20:30 and clicked "New Posts". The result was a listing of 136 pages of supposedly new posts. Page 3 was showing posts from 3 weeks ago, and I usually log on once a day.

What's going on with the "New Posts " logic?

I've noticed this whole site is running slower. Doesn't matter what browser I use. I haven't changed any settings, but it sure loads slower. May have something to do with all the adds.

I agree that something is going wrong, with this site. I can no longer use my "back arrow". When I open post, I have to go back to "New Posts", just to go back. Also, I can no longer drag my mouse over a post title and get a quick look-see as to whether I have read it before or if it's something I want to read further. Wonder what gives?

Ok, I've finished commenting on the op. Now, it's back to "New Posts" again!

From what I have seen, if I don't actually go into a thread, it still counts it as unread, or "new". I have been going to my smartphone and using the app to mark all forums as being read, but I just found that you can do it on the full site as well. When you are done reading on the New Posts area, go back to the main page where all the forums are listed. Down at the bottom is a link to "Mark forums read". That should take care of your problem.

The back button is an ongoing thing. There is a thread about it and a fix, but only for FF and maybe IE.

I have a mouse button set for "back" and it usually works when others are having a problems. Now it is acting up in Opera on this page. It also doesn't work in Google when it used to worked all the time. It works fine in a site Google listed, but not in Google. I have to exit Google and reload the search again.

What really annoys me is these sites that are programed so when you press back or backspace, it flashes the forward icon. They do this on purpose to keep you on their site. Any site that does that to me, will never get my money.
[/Rant off]

First thing to do when you start seeing these problem, clean the cache on your browser, shut down the browser and restart it.

Thanks Ken. I do have my browser set to "Empty on exit", "400MB" and "Automatic". Would it work better off, or lower MB or would that just slow things down during normal browsing?

Really? How come I can go to another site without shutting down and/or dumping my cache and it works fine and is even faster?
