HWH jacks, another problem
 

This time it isn't that they won't go up, it is that the right rear goes up on its own after I put it down and level the coach. Obviously fluid is leaking back into the reservoir under pressure, even from that of just the return springs as there aren't any puddles to be found. The little tee needle valve was able to be tightened maybe 1/12 of a turn. Didn't help, so I am thinking it must be the solenoid?

If there is no leaking externally, It is the solonoid letting the fluid leak back into the tank.

I would agree that it is probably the solenoid leaking past. We also have HWH system for both leveling and slides. The living room slide was sagging out after a few days in storage. Installing a new solenoid solved the problem. Unfortunately the parts are proprietary to HWH. Our son runs a hydraulic repair shop and was unable to cross it over to anything else. After searching, I finally found a new solenoid on ebay and saving about $50. Good luck.

HWH sells remanufactured solenoids for $125 and they carry the full warranty. They are the new cam release models. I just got 4 for my 325 jack system and they work great.:dance:

Thanks guys. Ah, just another money pit issue. So how do you go about removing a solenoid? It isn't obvious.

Just unplug the wires on the solenoid and twist it off. You won't spill any fluid with it removed. You may need a small filter or strap wrench if it is on too tight to remove by hand.

You can positively confirm that it is a bad solenoid by swapping that solenoid to another position. If the problem follows the solenoid, that is it for sure.

Maybe reseat the T handle first?

Regarding HWH parts, I have tried to contact them to no avail. I do see posts here saying that some members have succeded in getting parts from them, and other posts stating that they only sell to dealers. What is the real story ? ? When ordering or purchasing the next motor home, I am seriously thinking of staying away from any system using HWH for that reason. A large percentage of us are very good at do-it-yourself, myself, an electrical engineer and former aircraft mechanic, ( more qualified than most Rv mechanics) I try to keep costs down and their policy is a deterent. Is this what is the problem with " Buying Made in America " ? What will be next, no more oil filters sold to public ?

What is secret of purchasing any part from them ?

Try tightening the t-handles. They work loose on occasion.

I have ordered parts from HWH 3 times in the last 4 months and have had no problem. They do ask if you are an individual or company but I have received very good technical support a logistical support from HWH. It does take them a little while to call you back. You can switch the solenoid with another to see if the problem moves then you know the solenoid is bad. I'm not sure what system you have but on my 325 system the 2 outside solenoids are for the rears and the inside 2 are for the fronts but mine are all the same. Try calling HWH again and ask for parts and they should get back to you within a day. The number I uses for them is 800-321-3494. Good luck.

There are a couple of things I forgot to mention. Sometimes when you remove the solenoid, the neddle valve seat stays in the manifold housing. HWH suggested that I screw the solenoid back onto the seat a thread or 2 because the inside threads grab first, and then slowly and carefully pry it out using 2 screwdrivers, one on each side. If worked great for me after I paniced when it happened to me.

The other thing is that there are 2 HWH master service centers in florida, one in Largo and the other is Wildwood.

to help identify which solenoid operates each jack, level up the mh and then slowly open each T valve on the solenoids one at a time. which ever corner comes down is the solenoid that operates that jack. swapping positions as suggested would confirm your suspicions if it is a faulty solenoid.

Got back to FL and the MH last week. Left rear still retracting. Pulled the solenoid and called HWH. No rebuilds in stock, new ones are north of $225. I asked if I could return mine for a rebuild, they said yes and said they would expedite the repair. Hoping to get it back within a week, keeping my fingers crossed.
