New coach...First of many questions
 
We are very excited to be taking delivery of new coach and I have a question about the best way to keep the tires properly inflated.
Is the optimum method to fill tires from the coach air tank or to use a portable compressor? I have seen YouTube videos about using the onboard tank and the associated problem of keeping the air volume high. I have talked to a professional trucker and he recommended getting a portable compressor because the onboard tank just isn't capable of producing the volume of air for a long enough period of time to air a tire.
I have been looking at this great site for months as we contemplated getting the coach and dreamed about being able to post as an owner!

Welcome to IRV2. Congrats and best of luck with your new MH. Air compressors have been discussed often and many members including me have found this one to be outstanding.

Hello Bunkerhill. As Cliff mentions, that is very good compressor. I still use onboard air if I'm simply adding 1-2lbs to a tire. I agree, airing up a complete flat using the onboard would be quite slower as you'd have to let the tanks build back up often - however, simply adding a pound or two to even several tires - the onboard air is more than sufficient.

You'll need a compressor with an adjustable cutoff. Many cheap compressors are set to come on when the accumulator pressure gets down to 80 psi. Makes it difficult and slow to get tires up to 110 psi.

It also depends on what you are inflating. From his signature Cliff has a gasser which might require tires inflated to 80-85 psi. A DP with inflation to 105 psi might need a significantly bigger compressor (e.g. I've got a small, cheap tube compressor and I don't think it really puts out anything over 100 psi).
