Broken slide out seal

Can anyone help me with instructions on how to replace or re-attach a slide out seal? The curb side kitchen slide on my 2006 Dutch Star has a seal that has come loose at the top. It seems as though the metal teeth in the rubber seal have broken and are rusty. There is a section about 3 to 4 feet long in the center of the top seal that is protruding when the slide is in the out position. When the slide is in the in or closed position I can see the seal is no longer attached to the protrusion rail. The rest of the seal on the top and down both sides looks very good.

Thanks,
Ron

Broken slide out seal

We just had our slide out seal replaced. It was not an easy job, dealer quoted approx. 10 hrs for 2 people, using a forklift, they litterally had to take out the slide out, add the new "slideout wiper seal" then re-install slide out. We were very lucky our extended warranty covered the seal and 8.5 hrs of the labor. Another 2 months and our warranty time for seals would have been expired. It is not something we would have attempted ourselves.

Ours rusted and came loose the same way.
There are a couple different resources to buy new seals, I have one listed below.

We did not replace ours, we used 3M Black Weatherstrip Adhesive. It comes in a tube and works well. We pulled the trim away a little wherever it was loose, then put a bead of adhesive into the groove of the rubber trim, then reattached it to the wall of the coach. It has been on about 8 months now with no problems.

BE VERY CAREFUL: this stuff is black and sticky, it doesn't remove very well if you spill or ooze any out of the groove.

Welcome to irv2.
The seal should be OK and just needs to be reattached with the metal strip plus Newmar has there seals made to their specifications if you did have to replace it.
You are closer to Newmar than I and they would do the job up right, would require removing awning and reattach.
There are some threads that you can search for in Newmar forum where people have repaired it themselves.

I have the Fleetwood Storm, so mine might be different. But my slide seal Has this basic problem...Anyone with insights to cost of replacing this seal? I do not think it is DIY or is it?

Thanks for any information.

Alan
