Long Running Script Hangup
Recently when I change screens, the iRV2 forums have been hanging up. I get a message at the bottom of the screen stating that "iRV2 is not responding due to a long running script." If I choose the "Close script" option in the message, the forum page behaves normally. Is this an iRV2 script, a Google ads script or ??? I'm not sure that I can tell from my end.

kk7gc 07-04-2013 06:35 AM

I don't know how to tell which script it is but I have had the same problem with other sites. Chances are it is one of the ads that help pay for our site.

Skipper 05MA 07-04-2013 06:45 AM

Got the same thing when I tried to Log On just now

Petro 07-04-2013 07:25 AM

I reported the same problem last night and I am still having the same problem this morning. When I first log in I get the message and when ever I hit the back button it is the same way. Something is wrong for sure.

wa8yxm 07-04-2013 07:45 AM

Most likely a "Whatever" meaning

Google Ads pops up an add provided by someone who pays them to put it up and the script is in that ad.

What I would like.. A TSR background app that increases the senistivity of that "Slow Script" pop up and auto-responds with YES, Stop the stupid script, and if at all possible puts said script on a black list so it never pops up again.

GFDOUCET 07-04-2013 08:49 AM

long running script
same here ... aggravating. I am trying to find where to post a Louisisana Rally information. this is as far as I get. as I am not familiar with the site

Skip426 07-04-2013 09:41 AM

Got the ad to come up once, full screen , car ad , didn't leave it on long enough to find the source.
Only been happening last 2/3 days.

GaryKD 07-04-2013 09:56 AM

This is happening to me too. Can the iRV2 techs eliminate the offending script?

Skip426 07-04-2013 10:04 AM

Maybe related to the appearance of the Chinese script adds some members have been reporting.

I think it has something to do with the ads on the site not rendering in a timely fashion. This could be due to internet congestion, a slow server somewhere, a graphics intensive ad or a number of other factors. I just click on stop script. And make sure that you have set up your preferences here to not show right side ads.

Skip426 07-04-2013 11:21 AM

Ok , I let the long running script ad load , and on my page it came up as a video ad not just multiple still photos , from a Richmond B.C. car dealership , could be this is also the source of the Chinese ads I get from time to time . Does the iRV2 site have any say in the size/type, of the ads posted to the site ?
Could be it's the video format of the ads is the slowdown.

danandcarol 07-04-2013 12:47 PM

I thought I was the only one having this problem the last few days. :banghead: Only happens on the IRV2 site. Very aggravating. If I right-click, I get a pop-up box that lets me stop the script.

Winemaker 07-04-2013 02:09 PM

I get a slow script occassionally on other sites, but this one is rediculously s-l-o-w!!

HicksRA 07-04-2013 02:18 PM

I figured out just to hit the "X" to stop loading and the never ending circle goes away and the site opens up.

TXiceman 07-04-2013 06:19 PM

No problems on our hot spot.

gMw 07-05-2013 03:33 AM

Iím finding the Ďlong running scriptí problem still isnít resolved, at least not from my perspective. Problem occurs each time the Forums page is accessed, and only with this page.

Route 66 07-05-2013 04:12 AM

This has been referred to our tech guys, but since yesterday was a holiday it is on the list today.

Andy R 07-06-2013 10:54 AM

I have an email into the ad network to ask them what's going on. It could be an issue related to one of the ads and since it's a long holiday weekend it's slow to get an answer. Please post here if you continue to experience this issue. Likewise, if it goes away reporting back would also be nice to know.

wildtoad 07-06-2013 11:01 AM

1:01pm eastern time... Still a problem.

danandcarol 07-06-2013 12:40 PM

2:40 Eastern time, still a problem.

Francesca 07-06-2013 12:55 PM

Could it be in any way user-access related?

Nobody's saying what they're using to problems here via Windows XP desktop/hardline/Google Chrome browser.

Janet H 07-06-2013 02:24 PM

Can those of you with this problem please post about what browser (and version ) you are using?

RustyJC 07-06-2013 02:39 PM

IE 10.0.6 No problem on other vBulletin sites.

wildtoad 07-06-2013 03:21 PM

Update version IE 10.0.6. The full number from the help/about is: 10.0.9200.16599.

And for what it's worth, I installed Firefox and it does not seem to have the problem. I have noticed in the past the loads loads slower on IE than it does on Firefox.

jimlaurielucy 07-06-2013 03:40 PM

still having the problem,it is a pain. 5:40 PM

Brockx 07-06-2013 03:42 PM

I have been seeing it for a few days also......

As soon as I log on I put the cursor on the screen click once and the "slow script" message comes up. Click it to close the message, and the script stops loading and you are in business.

Otherwise I'm good for a 15 / 20 second wait.

TXiceman 07-06-2013 04:19 PM

Must be V-Bulletin problem. A couple of other boards with the same software are reporting similar problems.

I am running Windows 7 & IE 10.0.6. I just tried Fire Fox and iRV2 loaded fine so apparently it is not an issue with Fire Fox.

fun time 07-06-2013 05:18 PM

Same problem here for the last several days. Running Windows 8, Microsoflt explorer

wildtoad 07-06-2013 06:14 PM

It seems it is limited to this page. Once I'm into a sub category it works fine.

beejay25 07-06-2013 07:48 PM

Long Running Script Hangup
ME TO IE 10.0.6 No problem on other vBulletin sites and the Chinese ads.

Ramblin 07-06-2013 08:05 PM

Today, I was having trouble loading pages here due to 'Waiting for' messages, which may be related.. I added the following line to my hosts file:

...and the problem is solved. Ancillary benefits include thwarting google's evil activity tracking ad machine.

Scotty14 07-06-2013 09:23 PM

Same problem here for the last several days. It even happened at work on the computer yesterday.

Francesca 07-06-2013 10:10 PM

I'm tellin' y'all- you made a mistake when you "upgraded" beyond Windows XP and stopped using Google Chrome. This not to mention all those magic-air wireless devices so popular nowadays...Back here in The Stone Ages, everything's hunky-dory.

Side note:
If you know what "hunky-dory" means, you belong back here in The Stone Ages with me!

RustyJC 07-07-2013 04:25 AM

Problem still exists 5:24 AM 7/7/13.

DAN L 07-07-2013 04:45 AM

i get a similar message sometimes using my mac with safari snow leopard, twice today. most of the time the website works the next time i transmit.

darbyjudy 07-07-2013 08:02 AM

Long running script
I am having the same problems with long running script error. I am using IE 9. Only have this problem on this site. Yes it is a pain in the you know what.:banghead:

Janet H 07-07-2013 02:03 PM

Folks, we are working to resolve this. The slow loads only impact those using IE and so until we can get this resolved (shortly) please either bear with us, or consider using chrome of Firefox. Thanks for your patience and input.

JCM 07-07-2013 06:25 PM

I have been having the same problem for the last week or so. I keep seeing Chinese characters in the top add space.
Before finding this thread I deleted all my temp internet files and cookies without a change.
Using IE 10.09 in Windows 8.

What is that?

ghostery stops adds that you don't want to see from loading and tracking you. i read about it in a thread on this forum and have been using it for several months with good results. it is user friendly in that the user can edit the list and add to it.:thumb:
google it.

i tried firefox on my macbook with mixed results.

Francesca 07-07-2013 08:50 PM

Have any of you IE users tried a different browser, just out of curiosity?

Tech Admin 07-08-2013 03:33 AM

Sorry about the issue everyone was having. It seems Facebook and MSIE are not playing well together. How's your experience now?

RustyJC 07-08-2013 03:35 AM

Seems to be loading OK this AM.

Route 66 07-08-2013 04:26 AM

As Tech Admin note's above, it's fixed.

BBQ Judge 07-08-2013 04:37 AM

long running script
It's not fixed on my computer, appears every time I go to another posting.

I don't think it is fixed. Just had the same problem we've been experiencing the last several days.

Route 66 07-08-2013 04:44 AM

I've just tried it again with IE10 and it's still working for me.

Try deleting your iRV2 cookies and clearing your cache.

gMw 07-08-2013 05:13 AM

My PC has IE 10 with the latest updates from MS running on it.

Today, no change, itís still same problem I've been experiencing the last several days.

FYI, Iíve deleted iRV2 cookies and cleared cache, no help.

Brockx 07-08-2013 06:40 AM

I'm good to go, Windows 7, IE 10, forum is coming up instantly.

Me too.

Skipper 05MA 07-08-2013 06:44 AM

Running fine with Windows 7 and IE8. Thanks

JMonroe 07-08-2013 07:01 AM

I just logged in, 9AM eastern time, it is still happening to me.

wildtoad 07-08-2013 07:11 AM

Seems fixed on my computer. In fact it is much faster than it has been in quite some time.

Melmoses 07-08-2013 07:18 AM

Still a problem on mine with Windows 7 and IE 10 latest version. I have deleted cookies etc and still same problem.

nctox 07-08-2013 08:42 AM

I don't know why, but this morning iRV2 forums are loading much, much faster than usual for me on my laptop. Nice.
However on the desktop, the long running script is still casing slow load times for MSNBC. Go figure.

Francesca 07-08-2013 08:48 AM

I doubt this is site caused- evidently it's such a common IE-related phenomenon that some sites have put up permanent instruction pages advising their users how to deal with it.

Here's NPR'S Why am I receiving a "long running script" or "stack overflow" error message?

Why am I receiving a "long running script" error message?

"Long running script" error messages are specific to Internet Explorer. These messages are generally intended for developers who are testing and building a website You should be able to get rid of them by disabling certain browser settings:
-Open Internet Explorer
-Click the 'Tools' menu, and then select 'Internet Options'
-Click the 'Advanced' tab, select the 'Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)' and -'Disable script debugging (Other)' check boxes
-Clear the 'Display a notification about every script error' check box, and then click OK
-You may also avoid these error messages by using an alternate browser.

Petro 07-08-2013 08:58 AM

My computer is working great on iRV2 this morning. :thumb::thumb:

JMonroe 07-08-2013 11:03 AM

1PM eastern time. I was able to log in normally for the first time in days.

Route 66 07-08-2013 11:22 AM

If some members are still having a problem, the steps to take are;

1. Delete the iRV2 cookies on your computer
2. Clear the cache on your computer
3. Restart or reboot your computer

hosenose 07-08-2013 12:01 PM

Woohoo! Thanks Tech Admin. Working great for me now.
