dash a/c

hi!

having problems with my dash a/c. the compressor is making a "squealing" sound and there is not cold air blowing out. I don't know if it low on Freon or the bearings on the compressor are starting to fail. if some one could help me troubleshoot this I would really appreciate it. a/c is new to me so I have no idea on where to start.

thanks

Steve

If it was low on 134a the low pressure switch would not let the compressor clutch engage. Is the belt loose or worn out?

AutoZone has the Freon kit- should I give that a try?
the belt is new. it makes the noise all the time. we sprayed some lube on it and the noise quit for awhile, I don't know if the lube got inside the compressor? someone suggested that it might be the clutch is not fully engaged and that could be the cause and why the
lube stopped the noise for a little while does that make any sense?

Compressor

The compressor might be bad.

thought I would report back about what I found

there are 2 separate issues. the belt noise is from the new alternator not lining up exactly with the compressor. the no a/c was due to low freon. I went thru and checked all the components and tonight added freon- it is blowing cold. I need to keep an eye on it in case there is a leak. Both Freightliner and Fleetwood did a great job on getting me info. as far as the miss aligned alternator - that will be done this weekend. it is only out slightly but enough to make the noise

thanks for all the input

Thanks for reporting back. Hope it's all fixed up now.
