Couple of Questions
Have a couple of questions for the forum.
On the last trip, every time I made a turn onto the freeway, I got a "beeping" from the leveling system and all the lights on the control board were blinking for a minute or so then quit. Question I have is what would cause this? The other question is I'm looking into changing the bulbs to LEDs. Where would be the best place to get them from? Thanks in advance for the help. |
Fill the hydraulic tank to the full mark (with jacks up).

I changed out my dash light cluster to these so I could see them in the daylight.

We went with Steve at M4 Products
There are several companies and multiple threads here on the forum that talk about changing to led. Google and search the forum. Good luck. Only you can decide on the supplier you feel confident in for leds. jmo |
Your fluid level is low, top it off. 12V LEDs are available all over, the cheapest prices are found online. You of course want to get the same base bulbs for your application. Second, you want to be sure the style of the bulb will fit and look good in the fixture. You will then want to match the light output (lumens) of the replacements. Finally LEDs come in different "colors" of light, from yellowish to match the light of incondesests to a whiter light on up to blueish white.

For LEDs, I have had good luck with RVLEDBulbs.com - RV LED Bulbs, RV LED Lights and Light Accessories. If you use the coupon code FORUM, you will get a 10% discount.

Ebay for the LED bulbs.

Many LEDs are polarity sensitive. If you reverse the polarity you could damage the LED.
I have used BuyAndFun online shop, buy it and have fun!. The problem is their shipping time is long, a couple of weeks at best, and the site is an easter egg hunt at best. For the money they seem to be ok. |
If you reverse the polarity, it just won't illuminate. It is a Light Emitting DIODE. (LED)

LED's come in 3 flavors.
First: Bridge Rectified input.. Don't matter which way you plug 'em in they work Second: Diode protected input.. Actually the LED is a diode, it works when it is FORWARD biased so unless it has a very low peak inverse voltage, plugging it in backwards should not damage it. As someone said it just won't work. HOWEVER, some of the supporting hardware.. I mean when I rebuilt the LED light in my entry grab handle It has just an LED and a Resistor (which was way too small) so I soldered in a new LED and a bigger resistor (like 3 times).. Works to this day. But many of the replacement lamps have CURRENT regulators, These can be damaged by reverse polarity. But the LED itself, will not be damaged. and some cheap led lights (like the 1st ones I bought) Well,,,, let's just say they do not last long, nor light well.. The others I buy, work right nicely. |
Good explanation. I did, how ever, have some segment go bad after I reversed the polarity. Either I have a defective LED assembly or I damaged it.
I will admit that my basic knowledge of diodes faded many, many years ago. I haven't worked any real electronic circuits since the 80's I would guess. So, working with LEDs is like starting all over again and trying to get functional off the products shown online is not always easy. In any case, if something in the LED circuit package fails it most likely means replace the package. |

Check under the hood, but maybe hard to locate if it has a cover over it. You might be better off to look in that area from underneath. You are looking for a tank, about 5-6 inches in diameter and about 18 inches tall with a drain plug on the bottom. The filler cap will be on top accessed from under the hood.

on my 08 journey it is under the front steps, alarms will go off if only a half of cup low

You shouldn't have to go under the coach. They have it in an assessable area.

I don't have a Monaco but my hydraulics are in a basement bay and the tank is a black metal box at the right front of the bay. Fill plug is a round knurled knob.

Not sure on yours but check on the passenger's rear side engine access. On our 01 Spartan chassis, it is located on the forward side in that compartment.
