Brake system
Hi Thomash,
I think you are doing nothing wrong. I also have a Patriot and use it towing a Jeep. This brake senses motion and will apply the brakes only when it sees that the Jeep is slowing down. So check it on the road, and you may want to lower the sensitivity one notch if the brake comes on too often. It should apply during fairly hard braking and not every time the vehicle slows down a little. Happy Travels, bern |
I have an Rvi2 braking system which is similar to the patriot. It senses deaceleration and depending on the sensitivity it appies the brakes. If you are sitting still and hit the coach brakes it will not do anything.

Have the DW watch the car, in the coach, press the "manual over ride" lever on the bottom of the RF receiver, the brake should activate in the car.

I have the Patriot brake and have used it with my Wrangler TJ and with my Chevrolet Colorado. The brake works well. Yours is working as Bernie stated. The brake does nothing until it feels the momentum change as the motorhome decelerates during braking. Depending on what sensitivity you have the Patriot set on will determine when it applies the brake. Mine usually is set on about "5" and unless I brake hard, it never engages and the stopping is done by the MH brakes.
Just sitting still and applying the brake does nothing. |
