Black Tank Sensor

Today I got my black tank up to 71% and as usual, the toilet shut down. So after dumping, I re-filled the black tank with fresh water through the rinse nozzle while watching the readout in the wet bay. As fill levels approached 70%, I watched carefully, finding the readout suddenly jumped to 100%!

Based on this, I believe my black tank is mis-calibrated and needs to be re-set. It also appears my toilet is set to shut down NOT at 2/3 or 70% but at the 100% fill level. So at least I know I'm using ALL the 45 gallons of black, however, toilet water usage is still too high as a practical matter.

Those of you who have this same frustration may want to run this simple test so at least you'll know where you stand regarding fill levels in your tank. Now if only we can get a bit more black tank capacity......

Slabman...I wish you would get this figured out so that I can just go outside with your notes and fix mine! :D

:-). Don, i know what you mean. But you need to get your solar panels done before the next project....the DW will ensure you do that! You can do that fill test very easily...then you know where you stand. Also, don't forget to flush several times when you hit the 2/3 mark, watching for the front toilet to fill up over floor level. Remember, the rear one is higher, so won't build up fluid as high.

I would have thought by now, with all the technology being built into the chassis and coach someone had not yet offered an inexpensive remote dump system, smart enough to only operate when a hose is hooked up. Nightly, I have to dump the tanks, as not be woken up by the DW with the toilet turned off by the sensor.

Notoriously inaccurate. Film builds up on the inside, if yours is like ours with an electronic sensor external to the tank. I've tried filling it up with fresh and 5-6 happy camper packets and draining...helps a little. Our CS recommended doing that before hitting the road at about 60-70% filled + happy camper to slosh around and then empty at next campground. That has worked best for me. Evidently the film develops easily in an empty tank as you travel.

MJFZ...daily????really???? That's a lot of flushes:)

Maybe daily dumping, but just try to beat two days and you win the big prize. Do the math....1.1 gpf times 10 flushes/day/person times two days and you fill that 45 gal tank, even without any of the waste products you put in. Not much fun! :-)
