We have been rving for 7 years. We have power awnings on both our units. Never a problem. We do have some small awnings on our Teton. They are not much trouble. We have never anchored them down. If wind comes up they are retracted.

This is one wise reply. The value of the power awing is easy to put out and take in. Just don't hang a lot of tacky lights all over it that prevent rolling in.

My new Rockwood has it figured out. Power awning with a strip of LED lights on the coach, not the awning... This is in addition to an amber and a clear porch light too. Best setup I have seen. I can tilt the awning in a rain to dump the load, but it will auto-dump.
