Ford F450 Engine Heat Question
We had the opportunity to sit in the front seats of a 2005 Winnebago Aspect 26A today. The dealer had allowed the engine and generator to run for about 45 minutes to cool the coach before we arrived. Since I had read about Ford F450 engine heat, I placed my hands on the floorboard and the heat was negligible. However, the heat from the engine cover for both driver and passenger was uncomfortable to the touch.
Can we expect that kind of engine cover heat in most Class C motorhomes? And is the heat less once the vehicle is moving? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
I think any E450 chassis any way.

Hi! The cab designs in Ford/Chevy have changed little in 30-40 years. They all have the same intrusive dog house that my FIL's Chebby cabbed '70s Coachman had.... and all the same issues. Excessive heat on the passenger side (yes, you could literally fry bacon on the passenger floor!); noisy; cramped cockpit; really poor to no ventilation and air conditioning;... and you have to be a contortionist/gymnast to get in and out of the seats and over and around (or through) the doghouse to the coach. They just suck.... NO CHANGE IN THE 21st Century!
While looking in 2009/10 we came across the MB Sprinter based B & C models. NONE of those issues. So we got a Sprinter "B" and were delighted with it. A little tight with two and two pups up, so we moved to a '14 C class, View Profile based on a Sprinter 3500 chassis. Perfect! You can drive it all day and not be worn to a frazzle.
Aside from having a well laid out cab that is QUIET, temperature controlled, there's no acre of plastic chrome crap decorating very nook and cranny. It has seats that are comfy and adjustable at least 10,000 ways. There is NO doghouse! No heat penetration from the engine bay... NONE!
And, the bonus.... the Sprinter gets a comfortable 14-15 mpg.... lugging a 24' double slider, 10K lb house on it's back.
