8 volt vs 6 volt house batteries
 
Need to replace my house batteries due to age.
Any problem going with the newer 8 volt batteries?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how you can get to 12 volts using 8 volt batteries.

I have never heard of a 8 volt automotive battery......
Can you post a link to them?
I am thinking you are going to have to stay with the 6v battery's to make up 12 volts for your system.
There are 3 DC systems that are common, 12v, 24v, 48v

8 volt is a common Golf Cart battery for 48 volts. They are not compatible with a 12 volt system.

Enough has already been said on this thread........but I will add this......an 8 volt battery is definitely NOT a replacement for a 6 volt battery.....in any combination, shape or form, except possibly in a 48VDC system. Rook

The only use for 8 volt batteries that I am aware of having been in the auto electrical business several years ago was for replacement of 6 volt batteries in antique cars with 6 volt systems to maitain originality and improve engine cranking speeds. Never should two 8 volt batteries wired in series be used in a 12 volt system. The resulting 16 volts would do alot of damage to your coach.
