Need RV Inspector in Columbus Ohio area

We are looking at a private sale on a Newmar diesel class A. Is anyone aware of someone who can do a good inspection in the Columbus area. If not, what would be the best way to locate someone? Is that something that an area Newmar dealer service department might do? We are new to this process!

Thanks much!

I'm planning to call RV Inspection Connection and Premier RV Inspections today to see what they can do for us. Does anyone have any experience or opinions good or bad on these companies?

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I called and talked to Mike and unfortunately they don't go out for an inspection and it would be weeks to schedule something into his shop. I don't think good used units last that long so this probably won't work. Although everyone recommends getting a professional inspection done, I'm finding that it is verrrrrrry difficult to get one scheduled.

RV Inspection Connection doesn't have an inspector in the area and I can't get Premier RV Inspection to return a call. Frustrating.

sorry you couldn't get in to wilson's.............i have the same problems when scheduling with mike, he has limited space and it's a family operation..........wish i could help with other suggestions, but i do not know of anyone else that does coach inspections............have you tried other "dealers" in the area?.............

We engaged RV Inspection Connection to perform 2-two separate inspections for us when we were shopping for a late model Class A DP. One in Tx and the other in NC. In both cases, the inspections took between 2-3 days each, required the seller to agree to making the coaches available to include having them actively connected to shore power (so they can properly inspect the appliances, HVAC, and electrical systems, etc) and wet bay connections (inspection & testing of fresh water intake, gray & black water dump stations so the can inspect plumbing, etc.) and resulted in reports that were anywhere from 80-100 pages in length including numerous & detailed photographs, conditions ratings (very helpful), and an general summary. In both cases, we also opted for the full fluids (7 separate) analysis which does take up to 7 days to get the results.

The information we obtained from the reports on both coaches led us to "walk away" from those deals and was money well spent in our opinion. The problems found were also items we would have otherwise been unaware of should we have not had the inspections performed.

In terms of location, if you agree to pay subsistence cost (transportation, meals and accommodation) RV Inspection connection may still be able to assist you in the event they do not have an inspector based in or near to the location where the particular coach is located. Those types of cost are pass thru only and RVIC does not mark them up.

I'd suggest you call them back and discuss their ability to have an inspector travel to the location where the coach of interest is located provided you agree to pay the add. subsistence cost - should you be so inclined to do vs. buying a pre-owned coach in absence of a PPI which you certainly would not want to do.

Good Luck and rest assured the right coach deal is out there, just take your time and you'll find it (on your terms).
