Cheap Handling Fix
has anyone changed the front sway bar to the second hole without extending
the end links? i am just wondering if it is possible or not? thanks again.

I have tried the second hole without changing the length of the links on the FRONT anti-roll bar.
Really doesn't feel any different but it has to help make the front bar stiffer. After doing this I did break one of the bolts that are used to connect the link to the bar, but it took a long time for it to snap. It happened on the way home after a 10K mile trip to Alaska and back.
I also found a broken link bolt on the Rear anti-roll bar, a short time later.
I'm not sure if using the second hole contributed to the bolt breaking, but it should have. The Alaskan highway could have something to do with it...

Later, I did remove the front links and cut them each in half, added a few inches of steel tubing in the middle and welded all together to increase the length of the links, so that the ends of the anti-roll bar are more or less horizontal when the rig is level. It looks better and I think the shorter links might "bottom out" at extreme rig angles. The ends of the bar are close to hitting frame and/ or leaf springs when they are standard length and used in second hole. This may or may not have contributed to bolt failure.


I didn't cahnge anything at the rear bar except the brocken bolt.

2002 previous coach. Did CHF front and rear without adding / changing any parts. Ran it several years afterwards.

There are many aftermarket add ons to improve the driveability and handling;

Thanks. So in other words, no cheap handling fix! I've read that a rear tracking bar addition is beneficial.

We have added both front and rear trac bars, sway bars, and Koni shocks to our Chevrolet chassis and couldn't be happier.
We also did the same with our Workhorse W22 chassis years ago.

Our current MH drives and handles like a large SUV!

P.S. A Sate-T-Plus is easy and inexpensive enough to start with for most MH owners, and although its primary purpose is in case of a front tire blowout, many people will agree it gives a perceived driveability improvement.

Thanks for the advice. I put Koni shocks on all r corners and replaced the (factory?) steering stabilizer shock and new sway bar bushings front and rear. I plan on adding a rear trac bar for sure...maybe a front. Ours has the narrow front wheel stance and handles reasonably well but could be improved. Not much I can do about the 19.5" tires.

Yes makes a ton of difference also they have upgraded rear sway bar links the ones that are installed at the factory are about 3 in too short and puts the rear sway bar at the wrong angle
