I never met Dirk, that I know of. But he may have been at my first rally ever at the iRV2 International Rally in Branson in 2007 where a lot of the original crew attended. I did get to meet Petro and DriVer, and John Canfield at that rally and still keep in touch. Sorry I didn't get to know Dirk.
So what is the story behind Dirk's screen name "Route 66"? I just happen to be wearing one of my Route 66 t-shirts today from Oatman, AZ. A quaint little town on the original two lane route 66 that got bypassed in 1953 ..... and now the not so wild burros entertain the tourists. Adios Dirk! |
My condolences to Dirk's family and loved ones. RIP, and "Adios, Dirk."

Thinking of Dirk today on his birthday in Heaven.
Miss you buddy....I might have to have an ice cream cone today in your memory. Adios Dirk!! |
We had a cake for him in the back room ;)
Miss him greatly and hope he’s traveling down a better road. |
Our friend Dirk has been gone one year today. May he always be remembered.

I happened to see a post from Dirk's brother on social media as he memorialized the one year anniversary of his big brother's passing. Dirk was certainly one of the good ones. Makes me want to go out and get an ice cream cone tonight.... Adios Dirk. |
