Shifting issue

Good Evening all,
I don't get enough time to use my 1994 Damon Intruder. It has been sitting for about 6 months and when I went to start it and move it I had trouble shifting out of park but when I did the problem began. I first put it in reverse, then forward unit moved OK. The problem is now it will shift out of drive. Will start in drive so it now is currently parked in drive and with key still in it. Does anyone have a solution to this type of problem. Thank you

Not sure what the problem is as you stated it. "The problem is now it will shift out of drive. Will start in drive so it now is currently parked in drive and with key still in it."

Did you leave out a word or two? It would also help if you identify what chassis, engine, and transmission you have.

Shift issue

Sorry about info, it is a Damon Intruder with a 454 Chevy . Don't know what tranny. It is currently stuck in Drive gear. It will start while stuck in drive.

Lubricate the shift linkage on the side of the transmission. Sitting so long it could be seized up. The fact that it starts in Drive shows that the linkage isn't operating properly. Spray every moving part of the shifting mechanism with a good penetrating spray, (not WD-40) PB Blaster is pretty good and available at most every Walmart, auto parts store, etc.
