This weekend we had the smell of propane in the coach. Enough so that we shut off the propane and ran the generator / heat pumps all night. It isn't enough to set off the LP detector, but enough to smell and make one nervous. It seems to be coming from the heater, and has happened twice, both times the wind was blowing on the heater side of the coach. What doesn't make sense, is that the smell builds up while the heater is off, and then seems to go away while the heater is on. I've checked the connections to the heater and it seems to be tight. Seems as if the leak must be internal to the heater, like maybe the valve that is supposed to shut off the gas between cycles isn't working? Anyway, has anyone else experienced such an issue?

Alan it could be your control board and not a valve thats the problem. I would get a roving repairman to take a look at it. You can turn off gas at the gas valve for furnace.
Had a Bounder at rally, close quarters, gas all around camping area was a defective board would not close electric control valve. https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/newbluesweatdrop.gif

Now that makes a lot of sense 007, just the sort of thing I'm suspecting. Thanks! I'll have that looked into.
