Quality Service? Not so much

I usually do my own service when possible. While doing PMs and inspections a few months ago, I noticed what seemed to be a bad motor mount on my Cummins 400 ISL. Im not really set up to perform that kind of work so I took coach to an authorized Spartan service center to have them look at it. They said that all motor mounts were good. I looked into again and decided to order them and replace them myself. Good thing. Not easy to do in a gravel driveway but doable.

Why is it so hard to find a quality shop?

That’s really a shame and uncalled for.

Nice find while doing an inspection. Was there any performance clue, like a thunk?

Did you take it to the shop and show them?

That is completely unsafe... Did you take that disaster back to the shop and shove it up them?

Really now - this seems like a shop that needs some retraining from corporate. Every once in a while I get a request from a company for a survey, and I warn them that they should be careful about asking for my opinion... B/c I just might tell them the truth. I'd be on the phone to Spartan about that one for sure.

Haven’t contacted them yet. Just installed the other day. As far as why I checked them was a couple things. I hit a big pot hole at end of last season so was looking things over. I noticed the drive shaft angle was pretty severe when air bags were dumped. Drive shaft yoke bolts were starting to rub other half of yoke. Also, the turbo itself was only about 1/16 inch away from hitting the frame since engine was sagging to one side.

Anyone that has good service for a DP from a shop in the Charlotte NC please let me know.
